These Terms govern your use of Boffin, a daily lateral-thinking puzzle app operated by No Gear Consulting ("Boffin", "we", "us", or "our").

Using Boffin

Boffin gives players four clues and one link to find. You may play anonymously, sign in with Apple or Google, share puzzle results, invite friends, receive optional notifications, and subscribe to Boffin Pro.

You agree not to misuse the app, interfere with the service, attempt to bypass subscription gates, reverse engineer private APIs, scrape puzzle content, submit abusive reports, or use Boffin in a way that violates applicable law.

Accounts

You can use Boffin anonymously. Signing in helps preserve streaks, stats, subscriptions, and friend leaderboard identity across devices. You are responsible for activity under your account.

One-Submission Rule

Each puzzle allows one submitted answer. Answer judging is handled by our server. We use structured AI-assisted judging with exact-match fallback and a reporting path for disputed evaluations. We aim to judge generously and fairly, but puzzle results may occasionally be imperfect.

Boffin Pro

Boffin Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. v1 subscription options are weekly and yearly, with no free trial.

Boffin Pro unlocks archive access, unlimited arcade puzzles, advanced stats, difficulty filters, unlimited hints, lock-screen widget features, and other premium settings. Friend leaderboards and friend invite links are free in v1.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in iPhone Settings or your Apple account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple according to Apple's policies.

No Ads

Boffin does not show third-party ads in v1.

Notifications

Notifications are optional. If enabled, Boffin may send daily reminder, streak-at-risk, streak milestone, or re-engagement notifications according to your settings. You can disable notifications in Boffin Settings or iOS Settings.

Friend Invites And Sharing

Share links may identify the puzzle and the inviting user's Boffin user ID so that the friend relationship can be created when accepted. Do not share links in ways that are spammy, misleading, or unlawful.

Puzzle Content

Boffin and its licensors own the app, puzzle database, design, text, software, graphics, trademarks, and related content. You may share your own score/share grid through the app's sharing features, but you may not bulk copy, republish, sell, or train models on the puzzle archive without written permission.

Feedback

If you send feedback, reports, suggestions, or ideas, you grant us permission to use them to improve Boffin without compensation to you.

Availability And Changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, puzzle availability, paywalls, pricing for future subscription periods, or the service itself. We will not reduce active subscription rights during a paid period except where required for legal, security, or platform reasons.

Disclaimers

Boffin is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise uninterrupted access, error-free judging, permanent availability of every puzzle, or that the app will meet every expectation. Boffin is entertainment, not brain training, education, or medical/cognitive advice.

Limitation Of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost streaks, or service interruptions. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable consumer law.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, misuse the service, threaten app security, or create legal risk. You may stop using Boffin at any time.

Apple Terms

For iOS users, Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for Boffin or its content. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms as required by Apple's standard licensed application terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are intended to be governed by the laws of England and Wales, except where your local consumer law requires otherwise. Confirm this section with counsel before launch.
